Challenger v. EV: We’ve Got the Vid

Gas or electric? Which one can haul…um…oats quicker? While not on the order of the chicken/egg conundrum, it’s a valid query.
So, while showing off Chrysler’s three electric vehicles to the west coast media last Friday, ENVI head Lou Rhodes, and Doug Quigley decided to settle the question once and for all.
Rhodes, in the all-electric Dodge EV, and Quigley, in the Challenger, went head to head on 800 scorching feet of asphalt in the massive parking at the famed Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
They raced several times. We caught three on camera. Watch the video to see who wins.

Nov 11, 2008 at 7:27PMBy Mike Accavitti
Director, Dodge Marketing
I have lived in Michigan on and off my entire life. For those unfamiliar
with the climate here, winters in the northern United States can be very
brutal…especially on pre-galvanized steel cars, like the muscle cars of
the 60’s and 70’s.
Sub zero temperatures, snow and ice storms, the dumping
of heavy rock salt on the streets… not a good combination for a classic
cruiser. Therefore its been a ritual since I began driving one, that I
stored my hot rods in the winter.

Nov 6, 2008 at 9:46AMThis is from a note sent to VCA/SRT Club members recently…long story short, there’s a lot going on at SEMA, so take the time to check out all the pics at the Flickr page by clicking here.
“Enthusiasts far and wide come together this time every year for the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada! The show is known to attract the industry’s hottest products, drawing more than 120,000 industry leaders from November 4 – 7.
This year, Dodge Challenger has quite a presence! The Mopar Underground design team has mindfully created the Dodge Challenger Blacktop Concept, with custom Accessories by Mopar and Dodge Viper accents – sure to stun the crowd!
In addition, the SRT Engineers in Auburn Hills, MI, have outdone themselves with the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT10 Concept – the Tornado Red paint job only scratches the surface of what this road king has to offer! Unique styling and top notch engineering at its best!
We’ve also caught wind of the Dodge Challenger Targa – a full-blown competition car that raced and completed the infamous Targa Newfoundland race this year! Combining features from Dodge Viper and Accessories by Mopar, this one-of-a kind Challenger takes performance to a whole new level!
Want in on a little secret? It has been rumored that a Dodge Challenger convertible may even make an appearance at SEMA this year!”

| 1 CommentFuel Calculator: Commercial Division Debuts on RLD To Save You Some Dough
at 3:20AMBy Charlie Chung
Dodge Ram Chassis Cab Manager
So hey…there’s a part of Dodge that we haven’t even mentioned yet on this blog.
Beyond the Challengers and the Rams and all that, we play a huge role
for commercial businesses everywhere with our heavy duty trucks and
vans.
And just like with our lighter fare, our commercial vehicles are the
best on the road. Take this for instance: Our Ram 5500 gets better gas
mileage than Ford or Chevy. And over the course of four quarters,
that adds up to hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in fuel savings.
And all that goes to pad your bottom line.
Check out what you’d save here by visiting our fuel cost savings
calculator. And that’s just the beginning. Stay tuned for plenty
more from our commercial division right here on RLD. And if you have any questions about our division, feel free to drop a note in the comment section.

East Coast Driver, Dodge Challenger U.S. Tour
(This is a thoughtful, extended and…well…heartfelt piece written by one of the drivers of the U.S. Challenger Tour from a few weeks back. Take a look if you get a minute. For fans of the Challenger, you’ll be impressed by the connection Scott developed with his Challenger. And for photos from the tour, check out the Flickr page by clicking here.)
After traveling nearly 6,000 miles throughout 18 different states, this HEMI Orange odyssey has sadly come to a close. It was nice to get home, but giving this car back is a terrible feeling. We have been through so much together.
From the rolling mountain roads of Vermont and New Hampshire, to the hustle and bustle streets of New York City, to the sandy beaches of the Jersey Shore, to our Nation’s capital, and all the way back to the Motor City, the Challenger and I have lived a lifetime as one unstoppable HEMI force.
